First Blog

As this is my first blog, I am wondering what to start pushing here. I am bad with my writing skills, so sometimes bear with me, I will try to improve it as I am going along blogging.
To start with I thought let me start with some environment friendly act, and let you all know about global warming, its cause, what is telling us that its happening, its consequence and what we as human being can do about it (After all human being are causing it).

Carbon dioxide and other gases warm the surface of the planet naturally by trapping solar heat in the atmosphere. This is a good thing because it keeps our planet habitable. However, by burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil and clearing forests we have dramatically increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere.

This excess rise in Carbon dioxide in atmosphere will lead to many problems as it is drastically increasing the earth’s temperature and we are already seeing its effects.
– The number of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes has almost doubled in the last 30 years.
– The flow of ice from glaciers in Greenland has more than doubled over the past decade.
– At least 279 species of plants and animals are already responding to global warming, moving closer to the poles.

And if we do not take any action today, these problems will become more intense.
– Global sea levels could rise by more than 20 feet with the loss of ice in Greenland and Antarctica, submerging coastal areas worldwide.
– Heat waves will be more frequent and more intense.
– Droughts and wildfires will occur more often, the Arctic Ocean could be ice free in less than 50 years.
– More than a million species worldwide could be driven to extinction in next 50 years.

I am sure not even a single soul would ever like to see our earth in this miserable state. We have to act today to ensure we pass on a beautiful livable planet to our new generations. Today the situation is in our hand, and we can solve this problem, small change in daily activities and feeling conscious about this would help us solve this problem. Seven simple things we can do to start with are listed below:

1. Change a light: Replacing one regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulb will save 68 Kg of carbon dioxide a year.
2. Drive less: Walk, cycle, bike pool, car pool or take public transit more often. You will save 1 Kg of carbon dioxide for every 3 Km you don’t drive
3. Recycle more: You can save 1099 Kg of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your household waste.
4. Change you driving habits: Use clean fuel, keep you tires inflated properly to increase mileage, do not zoom in you vehicles just to break and waste all the energy you produced releasing carbon dioxide in atmosphere. Every liter of petrol you saved will keep 2.5 Kg of carbon dioxide out of atmosphere.
5. Use water wisely: It takes a lot of energy to heat water, use lukewarm water, use solar water heaters. It saves 350 Kg of carbon dioxide to go in atmosphere if you use water wisely.
6. Turn off electronic devices: Simply turning off your television, DVD player, Stereo, computer and Room lights when not in use by you will save thousands of Kg of carbon dioxide a year.
7. Plant a tree: One of the best thing we can do is Plant a tree, A single tree will absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.

The most important thing is to spread the word, let more and more people know about this problem and seek there contribution to save Mother Earth.

Do write your thoughts about it.
